The California Employment Code 510 has rules about overtime. Under the law, a day’s work is described as eight hours of work. The next part says:
Any extra work done beyond eight hours in a single workday or 40 hours in a single workweek, as well as the first eight hours of work on the seventh day of work and the first eight hours of work in any given workweek, will be paid for at 1.5 times the regular rate of pay.
